On October 12, 2021, IBM announced the IBM Environmental Intelligence Suite, a suite of environmental monitoring software based on artificial intelligence (AI), which will help companies prepare and respond to climate and weather risks that can disrupt business. The solution will make it easier for companies to assess their own impact on the planet, facilitate compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain reporting.

Companies see a revaluation of assets caused by climate factors, face disruptions in supply chains and production processes, as well as growing expectations from buyers and investors regarding environmental friendliness. IBM Environmental Intelligence Suite is a SaaS solution designed to help:

• Monitor and notify adverse environmental conditions such as weather anomalies, forest fires, floods, air pollution.
• Predict the impact of climate change and weather on business through climate risk analytics.
• Identify potential disruptions and allocate resources for response and mitigation.
• Measure results and report on environmental initiatives, and implement carbon accounting, reducing the burden on procurement and operations.

The software suite uses meteorological data from IBM, geospatial analytics technologies that companies around the world already use, as well as innovations from IBM Research. This is the first product to combine artificial intelligence, meteorological data, climate risk analytics and carbon accounting capabilities. The solution will allow companies to spend less resources on processing these complex data and devote efforts to analyzing and taking measures to improve processes.

The Environmental Intelligence Suite can be integrated with the IBM software portfolio for additional synergy from implementation.
