2021: Video Technology Presentation
In mid-October 2021, at a technology exhibition in Ningbo (China), China Telecom demonstrated a new 11K 3D video technology, which allows you to display content in a voluminous format. At the same time, the rollers are very volumetric. The developers presented the novelty using the example of a video in which one of the Chinese villages was presented in a virtual format.
Visitors to the exhibition could walk around the virtual village, study its surroundings in detail. The source reports that the resolution is so high that dew drops are visible on the leaves of trees. Visitors to the exhibition could observe the objects of the village from any angle of 360 degrees, controlling the viewing angle with their own hands. To record one minute of 3D video with this resolution requires 10 GB of free space, the entire virtual village took 500 GB.
At the same exhibition, China Telecom also introduced several other innovative solutions, including 5G + AI technology, VR boxing match. Visitors to the exhibition could appreciate the speed of the Internet connection provided by 5G support, as well as the quality of transmitted content thanks to artificial intelligence (AI) and mixed reality (MR) technologies.
According to China Telecom, with the beginning of commercial use of 5G and the release of innovative video technologies, ultra-high definition video has become the most popular entertainment. According to the Development Center information technology China (CCID), in 2020, the total scale of the ultra-high-definition video industry in China reached 1.8 trillion yuan. In June 2021, China Telecom first introduced the 3D + 5G + 8K solution, which does not involve the use of glasses to allow CCTV to complete preparations for broadcasting the 8K ultra-high definition test channel. In September 2021, China Telecom successfully installed the country's first 3D screen with a resolution of 8K, which allows the naked eye to see stereo images.[1]
