2021: Introduction of biometric identification
RecFaces together with Pelco in October 2021, implemented a project to introduce biometric identification at the Chong-nonsi station of the Sky Train Station ground metro in Bangkok (Thailand). The introduction of a ready-made Id-Guard software solution, integrated with the VMS Pelco VideoXpert video management system, made it possible to increase the level of security of the transport node.
Every day, the Thai capital's ground metro serves about 200 thousand passengers (before the pandemic, passenger traffic was 800 thousand people a day). Located in a busy business quarter, Chong-nonsi Station is one of the busiest in the city. She gained notoriety in 2019, when two explosions occurred during a terrorist attack on Bangkok.
The decision to introduce facial recognition technology at the station was made by the Bangkok Transport Infrastructure Administration. The main task of the project was to prevent further security incidents by quickly detecting the infiltration of criminals into the territory of the station.
In total, 10 CCTV cameras equipped with face recognition technology were installed at the station. The equipment was placed at the entrance groups of the transport node, where the largest accumulation of people is observed. One of the key qualities of finished biometric products is the ease of installation. So, the comprehensive implementation of the project in Bangkok took less than a month, and the installation of the software solution directly took only 20 minutes. Due to the high level of service, well-established communication with the customer and the operational work of technical support, the project was fully implemented remotely.
In terms of biometrics, transport infrastructure projects have a number of nuances related to certain restrictions on the installation of cameras. We provided the client with full support at all stages of implementation: from selection of server equipment for stable operation of the system to selection of optimal locations of camera installation and their configuration. In addition, the RecFaces always remains in contact with customers after the completion of the main work on the project. Technologies are developing, and the functionality of biometric solutions is constantly expanding. To get acquainted with the features of products, we regularly organize free training courses for our customers. With their help, it is possible to provide high-quality training for video system operators and technical specialists, "said Tamara Morozova, Director General of RecFaces. |
The Id-Guard software solution allows you to identify persons from the "stop list" in the flow of passengers in real time, categorize people by affiliation with lists and configure appropriate action scenarios for different groups. When a potential offender appears in the surveillance area, the system informs security officers in real time by sending notifications to the VxFaces interface and VxFaces App applications for tablets and phones. The seamless integration of Id-Guard with VMS Pelco VideoXpert makes the operation of the solution simple and intuitive. Security television operators can use the full range of functions of a biometric product, remaining in the usual program interface.
If necessary, Id-Guard can also be used to identify passengers who ignore the requirement to wear medical masks in transport.
The second main objective of the project was to ensure the rapid search for criminals and the investigation of security incidents. With a biometric archive in just 10 seconds, you can not only
establish the place and time of appearance of a particular person at the station, but also track the trajectory of his movement through the territory. Through deep integration with the VideoXpert archive, the security officer can immediately proceed to play the archive video at the event of interest.
Finally, biometric identification of passengers is also used to collect and analyze data station load statistics over a given period of time. Based on the received information , it is possible to make decisions on optimizing the train schedule.
{{quote 'Thanks to the comprehensive support provided to us RecFaces, the project was implemented as quickly as possible. The company's engineers not only made valuable recommendations for selecting equipment and developing the architecture of the video surveillance system, but also took over the work of configuring cameras to obtain the most accurate result when identifying passengers. I would like to especially note the understandable and comprehensive training programs offered by the RecFaces for our specialists and employees of the station security service. As well as operational technical support, thanks to which all issues that arose in the process of work could be resolved as soon as possible. Cooperation with a team of professionals of this level has become an important experience for us and has left extremely pleasant impressions. I would hope that this is not our last joint project with RecFaces, "said Pongpat Kantachiravat, managing director of T-Sign Solution. }}
