2021: Development of a motherboard based on the Baikal-M processor

BPO Progress JSC, part of the Automatics Concern of Rostec State Corporation, has developed a Thin Mini-ITX motherboard based on the domestic Baikal-M processor. With compact design, the board reduces the thickness of the computer system unit to 3-4 centimeters and can be used in compact computing: nettops, all-in-ones, mini-servers and information panels. As of October 2021, this is one of the thinnest boards based on the domestic Baikal-M processor. This was announced on October 22, 2021 by the Automatics Concern.

The motherboard processor is the most complex element in the classic surface mounting technology - BGA (Ball Grid Array). Despite the halved size (compared to the standard device), the board is equipped with two USB Type-C connectors, two LAN ports, 2 SATA 6Gb/s, 2 DDR4 channels, has low power consumption and can be used inside the "panel computer," all-in-one unit. Boards are manufactured in Russia, which ensures the availability of products.

As part import substitution of and stimulating government the development of electronic industries equipment, all state structures schools hospitals and other institutions will be equipped with computing equipment on Russian processors. This technique will be preferred in the framework of procurement procedures. As of October 2021, the mandatory minimum threshold for purchases is at least half of domestic-made PCs. This forms a great demand for products that we observe. We are aimed at solving the problems facing national projects and are ready to offer our customers high-tech solutions that are not inferior in their technical characteristics to foreign counterparts, "said the general director of the Automatics Concern.
