2021: Announcement of modular chamber with magnet mount

At the end of October 2021, Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI) announced the Action 2 action camera, which will replace the Osmo Action model. A feature of the novelty was the modular design, accessories are attached to the device using magnets. The cost of DJI Action 2 will be from $399.

The camera module itself is small in size, it is a square of 39 mm and a depth of 22 mm, and also includes a 12 MP sensor capable of recording in 4K format, a lens with a viewing angle of 155 ° and a 1.76 "touch OLED screen covered with Gorilla Glass. With magnets, you can attach another touchscreen, which also increases battery life and adds an array of microphones. You can attach an additional battery or various fasteners to the device that allow you to attach the camera to tripods or mounts GoPro, or even wear the camera as a necklace on the user's neck.

It is worth bearing in mind that Action 2 weighs only 53 grams, which is almost a third less than the weight of Hero10. DJI also includes 32 GB of onboard memory with the ability to expand with a microSD card, which GoPro does not have. Action 2 also has features such as electronic stabilization, leveling the horizon, the ability to live stream or use as a webcam, as well as some elegant tricks, such as a color temperature sensor, which the company says will help get better colors in difficult places for lighting or underwater.

The Action 2 power kit costs $399 and includes a camera, a power module that increases the recording time to 180 minutes versus 70 at the camera and adds an additional slot for the microSD memory card, mount and cord. If the user wants to repeat the built-in Hero10 screen, he will have to purchase a set with two screens for $519, which includes the same as the power supply, but replaces the battery module with a screen module, and also adds an adapter with a ball hinge. Although technically more than the GoPro price without a subscription fee, the lack of built-in memory from Hero10 means that the user is likely to compensate for the cost difference by buying a microSD card. The company states that the double-screen kit will appear on sale on November 2, 2021, and the powered combo, as well as most other accessories, will appear in mid-November 2021.[1]
