2021: Refusal of 99.9% of salary due to sex scandal

On October 28, 2021, Activision Blizzard announced the adoption of a new policy on harassment and reducing the salary of its general director Robert Kotik to the minimum salary in California. The top manager refused 99.9% of his salary due to a sex scandal.

Activision Blizzard introduces a new zero tolerance policy for harassment throughout the company. Previously, the company discovered and confirmed the facts of harassment, as a result of which some employees were dismissed, while others were given oral or written warnings, and also applied various disciplinary measures to others. According to Bobbie Kotik, this approach is inadequate and the company seeks to have the strictest policy on harassment and non-harassment among all employers. Employees who avenge anyone for filing an allegation of violation of regulatory requirements will be fired immediately, and Activision Blizzard will rely on dismissal, not written warnings, for misconduct or prosecution based on any legally protected category of citizens.

The company will invest $250 million to accelerate opportunities for a variety of talents, as well as another $250 million by 2031 on initiatives to expand gaming opportunities and technology for underrepresented communities.

We intend to put an end to violence and harassment against women and men in the workplace in our company. Dismissal for these reasons will result in immediate forfeiture of future compensation to any Activision Blizzard employee! In the same case, labor reviews on guilty workers for other companies will be compiled, "said Robert Kotik.

The company will also begin to publish annual reports on wage transparency. According to Kotik, he asks the council to approve a salary reduction to the lowest amount that California law allows people who receive a salary of $62 thousand compared to $875 thousand. Most of Kotik's rewards are bonuses and promotions, which he says he asks the board to waive until Activision Blizzard reaches transformational goals related to gender and other commitments described above.[1]
