2021: Configuring a Hybrid Environment Based on SharePoint
On November 2, 2021, Conteq announced that it had configured a hybrid environment based on SharePoint and combined the portals of the Russian and German representative offices of Begarat.
According to the company, Begarat is a member of the German group of companies Vemag, which develops, manufactures, promotes and supplies technological equipment for the food industry in the fields of molding, heat treatment, packaging.
The German and Russian representative offices of Begarat have many intersecting, business processes related to the production part. Due to the fact that data were stored in different systems, there were difficulties in internal communications for general tasks, as well as with the recording of data on counterparties and their cataloguing. In addition Germany Russia , there were separate portals installed on different ones in and, which servers SharePoint led to the fact that most of them were not information synchronized.
The objectives of the project were:
- Create an information space in which shared information from the cloud and two server portals must be synchronized.
- Synchronize counterparty information from 1C with the SharePoint portal.
- Automate the simultaneous filling in of data on products on the company's website, on the portal and in the accounting system.
The goals were achieved by solving the following problems:
- Creating a hybrid environment from SharePoint Online and two server versions of SharePoint, in Russia and in Germany.
- Configure and integrate functionality between hybrid SharePoint environment , OneDrive, managed metadata services, search, and user profiles.
- Synchronization of SharePoint with 1C, due to the creation of a mechanism for transferring data from the directory 1C (counterparty card) to SharePoint.
- Synchronize SharePoint and 1C with WordPress by creating a mechanism for transferring product data from SharePoint to the company's website.
Begarat chose IT Conteq as a contractor. The choice was due to the experience of Conteq developers in creating hybrid environments based on SharePoint.
In a hybrid environment, Begarat's SharePoint combined SharePoint Online and two SharePoint Server 2019. The hybrid environment created integrated SharePoint Online work services with SharePoint Server services, providing unified service capabilities and data access. In a hybrid environment, information is exchanged between SharePoint Online and two server versions of SharePoint, thereby providing users with access to the necessary resources and content, regardless of the location of the database. When users search SharePoint Online, they also receive search results from server versions of SharePoint.
Since 1C uses only Russian representation, synchronization made it possible to optimize the process of obtaining data to colleagues from two countries. From 1C, directory data (counterparty cards) are now transferred and vice versa from SharePoint to 1C. A mechanism was implemented that allows users to independently determine and indicate where to send data from the directory: to the server version SharePoint Germany, to the server version SharePoint Russia, or to the cloud version SharePoint.
The company's website is now automatically pulled up an item card from the hybrid environment SharePoint. The process is organized as follows:
- administrators are looking for an item card in 1C,
- then loading the card;
- then the card enters the hybrid medium SharePoint,
- from the hybrid environment SharePoint the product card enters the WordPress,
- a reference is generated in the WordPress, which is already returned to 1C.
All this is necessary so that the administrator does not duplicate the recording of product cards in different systems. The created mechanism saves the time of the responsible specialist, and minimizes the number of errors associated with incorrect introduction of a site link, etc.
While working on the project, Conteq developers and analysts applied the experience of configuring hybrid environments and worked to create mechanisms for exchanging data between different systems.
The experience of integrating SharePoint with an accounting system and a site is more interesting and complex than the primary feeling that can arise from its description, since a certain mechanism for transmitting data from different systems has been developed for integration. The project itself was interesting from an engineering point of view, and we are grateful to Begarat for the possibility of its joint implementation. noted Sergey Strotsky, Head of Development |
