Activeloop Armenian is a startup created in 2018. The service is an open platform API that allows you to create, store and AI work on large amounts of data for training, eliminating the need to load data on local media. The scheme is similar to the model for Netflix processing films, where local data downloads are completely excluded.

History

2021: Attract $5 million investment

On November 2, 2021, Activeloop announced a raised investment of $5 million, led by 468 Capital and CM Ventures, with the participation of Tribe Capital, Shasta Ventures and others.

David Buniatyan, the company's founder and CEO, says the idea of streaming data came to his mind when he worked with large amounts of data at the neuroscience lab at Princeton. He found that the files were so huge that downloading them was impractical, so he came up with a way to stream them, which became the basis for Activeloop.

Since November 2021, the company has been developing an alpha version of a commercial product. The company also launched pilot projects with Waymo, Gradient Health, Omdena.

[Мы] we present a database for AI, in particular, a storage level that helps to store data very efficiently, and then transfer it to machine learning applications or training models for computer vision, sound processing, NLP (natural language processing) and so on, "Buniatyan explained].

The API is open source, but the company's commercial product, which is currently released in alpha, will be supplemented with features such as the ability to run SQL queries on streaming data that will not be publicly available. The company has a preliminary profit, but hopes to release a commercial version in the first quarter of 2022.[1]
