2021: 5G and Mobile Peripherals Solution Application
With the support of Huawei and China Mobile, Haier has applied innovative manufacturing solutions that combine 5G and mobile peripheral computing in its smart enterprises. This was announced by Huawei on November 16, 2021.
These collaborative solutions, developed in February 2021, combine 5G peripheral computing with artificial intelligence, including machine vision used in production. They are used in production and can perform a variety of tasks. Haier has implemented the technology at seven smart plants in China and plans to extend its use to 20 plants by the end of 2022.
Huawei will help Haier implement 5G solutions and transform about 100 of its manufacturing plants around the world within five years. The three companies are also going to offer their technology to other large manufacturers in China and abroad.
With 5G technology, manufacturers can use wide bandwidth - up to 20 Gb/s - and latency up to 1 millisecond. Mobile peripheral computing, one of the main features of 5G, provides cloud computing with extremely low latency. While not all manufacturers use the pros of 5G in full power.
At the same time, these solutions allow you to implement high-efficiency machine vision in production thanks to low-latency connections between high-resolution cameras, AI modules on the production site and external training servers.
Machine vision on a 5G production line reduces manufacturer costs by quickly checking quality with an accuracy of more than 99%, increasing verification efficiency by at least 10%. Machine vision gives much less false positive and false negative results in comparison with humans.
Three partners have also developed technologies to improve workplace and staff safety. Unlike traditional video surveillance systems, which have only a recording function, AI surveillance can automatically generate real-time alarms when anomalies are detected at the factory. Technology can identify unauthorized individuals, safety violations and workers who are not where they should be.
In addition, solutions help to effectively coordinate the work of a large number of people, machines and materials involved in a complex production line as a whole. Solutions achieve this with high-definition cameras, 5G gateways, and intelligent industrial terminals that work in unison with artificial intelligence.
In the future, solutions will be finalized to ensure the visualization of "digital doubles." The digital twin is a reproduction of a real and dynamic production plant in a virtual digital world, metaverse. The digital twin makes timely preventive maintenance a reality and allows you to model changes in the production process before they are implemented. All three companies are also experimenting in the direction of using the 5G environment to support automated vehicles for more accurate and efficient transportation of goods to warehouses or production lines.
Haier, China Mobile and Huawei hope to continue cooperation on the development of 5G production applications for the benefit of partners and customers in China and abroad.
