2021: In public transport in Russia, they began to pay through a mobile application

At the end of November 2021, it became known that in Tver, Perm and Taganrog launched a public transport fare service using a mobile application. Users of technology developed by Datapax are exempt from the need to apply smartphones or transport cards to validators or pay for travel either to the driver or conductor.

Now they can quickly enter the transport, open the application and pay for travel from any convenient place. The application, interacting with a special sensor in the bus cabin, itself determines at which stopping point the person came in, and what the fare is.

When paying for a fare with zonal charging, the passenger needs to choose the final stop and the fare is calculated automatically, on city routes - immediately a notification appears about the need to pay a fixed cost

The service excludes the installation of additional validation equipment, which allows you to introduce cashless payments in any region cheaper and faster. And passengers at the same time get rid of queues for entry, can conveniently and contactlessly pay for travel from their smartphone. No one distracts the driver from work, which, while saving time to land, it is easier to observe the traffic schedule, "said Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Kirill Bogdanov.

By the end of 2021, the service will be introduced on all public transport routes in the Tver agglomeration. In Taganrog and Perm, technology is being tested on separate routes, and in 2022 its use will expand.

Pilot tests showed that the landing time with this payment method is reduced by 30%, and with the mass use of the service, the total travel time is reduced.^[1]
