2021: Implementation of IoT solutions for temperature and humidity control at sites in the Moscow region

In July 2021, it became known that the company Itella in Russia is implementing a project to use Internet of Things (- IoT Internet of Things) to control temperature and humidity at its own sites in. Moscow region This solution allows customers logistic provider to receive information on the storage conditions of medicines medical and destination goods online.

Itella in Russia owns a pharmaceutical license for warehouse complexes and invests substantial funds in their modernization to comply with the requirements of the GDP standard (good distribution practice), including to ensure the responsible storage and transportation of drug products and medical products with the ability to maintain a temperature range from + 2 to + 25 ̊C. As part of a pilot project to control storage conditions, a local solution was implemented - after the installation of special sensors, the information on the temperature and humidity mode collected by them was accumulated on local servers and transmitted to customers on request. Customers received the opportunity to online view this information at the end of the first quarter of 2021.

The service operation scheme today is as follows. Temperature and humidity sensors in warehouses send data directly through Internet communication channels to the Itella cloud, where this data is processed by the specialized Master SCADA software. The processed information is displayed in a single monitoring center and control panels at each site. The Master SCADA software installed in the Itella cloud allows you to visualize information from sensors on an interactive warehouse map, generate reports that are automatically transmitted to the Itella iCRM. Reports become available to the customer in their personal account and allow you to control changes in temperature and humidity parameters both online and as a sample in a given date range.

In the process of launching the service, the IT department coped with difficult tasks. In the areas of refrigeration rooms and some other rooms, due to the inability to access the Internet, information from sensors was transmitted to controllers located on the site and broadcast to the Internet directly from this device. It was also necessary to refine the software to implement the ability to display reports in the customer's personal account in the Itella iCRM.

Total investments in the project amounted to about 10 million rubles. As of July 2021, more than 300 sensors and 10 controllers were installed at Itella storage sites in Russia. A single monitoring center and its local versions at each facility were also created.

Since the beginning of the project, more than 25 Itella customers in Russia, including the largest representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, have become its users. The frequency of customer calls to personal offices increased by 21%. In turn, the number of incidents related to the provision of specified storage conditions for medicines and medical supplies decreased by 17%. Service availability for the company's customers is 99.99%, and SLA ratio is 99.98%.

"We are accumulating statistics on this service. Next, the company plans to test the launch of artificial intelligence to analyze the collected data array, which we plan to begin in the II quarter of 2022. This information will become the basis for research on the implementation of the automatic building management system (BMS), and already in early 2023 we expect to extend it to all Itella sites in Russia, "said Nikolai Galkin, Itella Chief information officer in Russia.
