In July, 2010 the new line of the ProLiant G7 servers to which customers following features are offered was provided:
- Increase in energy efficiency and productivity of work of the administrator due to use of the mechanism of control of the Integrated Lights-Out Advanced servers (iLO 3), Intelligent Power Discovery technology and the managing software of HP of Insight Control with technology of dynamic restriction of energy consumption, dynamic with technology, that provides the highest level of control automation, control of energy consumption in all DPC and expense reduction on the electric power for 96%.
- The improved indicators of stability and non-failure operation of servers with a possibility of memory isolation on virtual machines and its automatic recovery without shutdown of the physical server and other virtual machines.
- Optimization of work with the help of architecture which is configured and scaled taking into account the power of the central processor, amount of memory and input-output of data. Thus it is possible to avoid bottlenecks when using the most important applications. It allows to consolidate all equipment of DPC and promotes reduction of the size of the DPC in a proportion 91:1.
Reduction of complexity and complexity of networks at the expense of the automated and virtualized connection to networks of transfer and storage of data by means of HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric. The enterprises can reduce by 95% growth of networks at the level of servers and considerably simplify a change management process.
New additions to a portfolio of server solutions of HP ProLiant include seven servers edges and three rack systems, many of which are optimized for scalable environments with the high level of loading and large volumes of the processed data. These new servers of architecture of x86 constructed based on the newest processors of AMD® Opteron 6100 and Intel® Xeon® 5600 and 7500 series as much as possible increase time of continuous operation of applications and for 100-200% increase operability of servers, depending on model.
The new eight-processor system of HP of ProLiant DL980 G7 differs in the increased performance, reliability and scalability which are reached thanks to unique architecture of HP PREMA combining technology of caching HP Smart with a restoration system. Reducing time necessary for accomplishment of system transactions, the server allows to double performance of the business applications saturated with data, and in comparison with the previous generation performance is increased by 20%.
The HP ProLiant servers edges provide the increased performance at virtualization
The enterprises can not always use all advantages of virtualization of servers because of restrictions of volume of server memory or opportunities of input-output of data. Seven new servers edges of HP of ProLiant G7 are based on architecture which finds optimal balance between loading of processors, memory and input/output devices that helps to reach the maximum capacity of applications and to reduce licensing cost.
New servers edges are equipped with memory with a capacity up to 1 Tbyte and support four times more virtual machines, than other edges. Besides, it is industry-first servers into which the technology of HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric which is simplifying connection with storage systems both network connections and even more reducing costs for infrastructure is integrated.
Additional benefits:
- increase in productivity of virtualization with the server edge having 1 Tbyte of memory on the separate server and 16 Tbyte — on a rack. HP ProLiant BL680c G7 can support three times more virtual machines on one server edge and requires 73% less hardware on 1 thousand virtual machines;(8)
- achievement of efficiency of virtualization when using the server edge differing in the largest volume of memory in category of dual-processor edges. New HP ProLiant BL620c G7 can support four times more virtual machines on one edge and requires 66% less hardware on 1 thousand virtual machines;
- increase in return on investment into virtualization with new HP servers of ProLiant BL465c G7 and HP ProLiant BL685c G7 — the last differs in double performance in comparison with the previous generation, at the same time the price of initial model is 30% lower;
- the simplified network integration into Virtual Connect FlexFabric HP adapters at the server edge of HP of ProLiant BL460c G7 and the first edge which is most sold in the world for the virtualized environments of HP ProLiant BL490c G7.
Besides, provided to HP HP ProLiant BL2x220c G7 for high-performance computing. Thanks to the Infiniband technology integrated into this server it provides big bandwidth by 20 times, and its performance is increased twice in comparison with racks of other edges.
The new HP server of ProLiant DL980 G7 with architecture of HP PREMA supports difficult corporate applications and at the same time provides possibilities of "selfrecovery" for protection of virtual machines and applications. Together with HP servers of ProLiant DL580 G7 and HP ProLiant DL585 G7 it is option for the most difficult transactions differing in large volumes of data and the need for scaling.
Additional benefits:
- the increased fault tolerance and scaled based on use of four processors, performance and also reliable security technologies, in particular, technology of recovery of Intel Machine Check Architecture (MCA) on HP servers of ProLiant DL580 G7;
- three times performance of databases, big in comparison with the previous generation of eight-socket servers, in the business applications using large volumes of data on HP servers of ProLiant DL980 G7. The server allows to perform scaling of a system, increasing the capacity of processors Intel 7500;
- return on investment for HP servers of ProLiant DL585 G7 makes less than 30 days thanks to a combination of innovations in the field of energy efficiency and technology of HP Thermal Logic.
HP servers of ProLiant x86 differ in opportunities:
- The technology of HP Intelligent Power Discovery used in the ProLiant DL servers of series G7 prevents an excessive expense of the electric power, creating the automated network controlling power supply between servers and third-party management tools infrastructure. Connecting ProLiant HP server with the electric network of DPC, she creates a graphic picture of energy consumption. The solution allows the enterprises to save up to 50 thousand dollars on a rack and to 5 million dollars on 1 thousand servers consuming too much.
- The mechanism of control of the Integrated Lights-Out Advanced servers (iLO 3) provided with the software tool of HP Insight Control allows remote servers to carry out tasks of management quicker. The console of remote control of iLO 3 functions eight times quicker, than in the previous version that increases productivity of work of the administrator.
- The technology of HP Insight Control with Dynamic Power Capping increases utilization coefficient of resources of DPC, returns surplus of the delivered electric power and increases the power of DPC three times, allowing IT specialists to control carefully how many the electric power consumes each server.
- Expanded services of HP for HP servers of ProLiant will help to minimize idle times of systems and to cut down operating expenses due to increase in operability of applications.
The HP servers of ProLiant DL580 and DL585 G7 optimized for use in racks and servers edges of HP ProLiant BL465c and BL685c G7 are already available to the order worldwide. HP servers of ProLiant DL980, BL2x220, BL460c, BL490c, BL620c and BL680c G7 will go on sale in the coming months.
