2021: Implementation of the GV K2 Stratus media storage and management complex
On December 3, 2021, Vidau Systems completed acceptance tests of the project for the technical reconstruction of the media storage and management complex GV K2 Stratus of TV Center JSC, located on the territory of the Mosfilm film studio.
VIDAU Systems installed storages the Grass Valley AMS Express network. This was made possible by the extensive experience of the company's engineers in the field of implementation. storage systems
As a result of the replacement of the K2 SAN storage system with GVAMS Express (NAS) and the update of the intelligent media management system (MAM) GV Stratus, the storage volume of media content the complex was several times increased, the functionality was updated and expanded, it was possible to scale the volume and speed without stopping production by the software system, whose actions are aimed at providing secure methods storages and providing access to media data. AMS Express allows you to quickly and easily expand bandwidth and increase storage, eliminating latency and downtime.
In the first half of 2021, the technical directorate of the TV-Center television company faced the need to replace outdated equipment and update the software of the media storage and management complex. The decision was made after receiving official notification of the decommissioning of spare parts and the suspension of technical support for the system components that were in operation as part of the complex.
A technical audit of the media assets production management complex (PAM) and the work stations of the post-production complex of TV-Center JSC on Mosfilm was carried out.
When planning and implementing work, VIDAU Systems specialists strictly took into account the parameters and specifics of the television production process, the need to minimize its shutdown time, as well as ensuring the safety of existing media data. As a result, a detailed work plan was created to replace the old storage system and PAM servers with the one being implemented.
In the segment of television broadcasting, such reconstructions are hindered by the need to carry out them without stopping the media production process, which also includes live broadcasts. This requires a well-designed and masterfully executed replacement and integration of new systems, hardware and software.
As part of the GV K2 Stratus TV Center modernization project, the complete shutdown of the production complex at the time of the transition lasted only 8 hours. The remaining work was carried out in parallel with the production work of the complex. Almost invisibly for the technological personnel of the channel, installation work was carried out, such as the installation and switching of servers in racks, the installation/update and configuration of software, the migration of media materials and their metadata, and commissioning.
