2021: Migration to Qlik Data Integration

The Eurasian Bank (Republic of Kazakhstan) together with GlowByte implemented a project on the transition to an updated data replication system based on the Change Data Capture (CDC) capabilities of the Qlik Data Integration platform. This was announced by GlowByte on December 8, 2021.

During the pandemic in 2020, the bank faced the issue of modernizing integration processes and updating versions of the Oracle database management system (DBMS) for the bank's information systems and the Corporate Data Warehouse ( CCD). Updated DBMS versions were not supported by existing replication technology and source integration with DBMS.

The solution had to meet several requirements at once: support for a large list of sources and receivers, support for different versions of the database system, minimizing the load on the source system, high performance and fault tolerance. Qlik perfectly meets all these criteria, "said Alexander Naumov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Bank.

Thanks to the cooperation of GlowByte, Bank and Qlik, over 4 months it was possible to jointly configure the loading of more than four hundred objects from 4 heterogeneous data sources on the Oracle and Postgres DBMS into the CCD operating layer. Thanks to the knowledge obtained, the Bank's employees were able to independently configure the download of a large amount of data. The total average daily volume of transactional journals processed by the instrument reaches 5 TB. The solution has a fault-tolerant configuration and provides near-realtime regulations, with one to two-second delays between sources and CCD.

We are pleased to apply our best practices in the field of data integration and construction of CCD operational processes and provide our customers with a reliable and modern solution. The Eurasian Bank was the first to introduce Qlik in the CIS and received a convenient tool and a scalable approach to further connect new sources. - commented Denis Pashkov, architect, GlowByte. - Now our customers can expand their choice of CDC solutions, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on their business.

It was very important for us to work on changing the integration tool without stopping the regulatory processes of the Corporate Data Warehouse, which are critical for the Bank's business processes, and also to support plans for the development and implementation of new banking systems as soon as possible. These changes allowed us not only to increase the speed of data replication, but also the reliability of the system and the speed of data recovery in the event of a potential failure. Since the introduction of Qlik, several times there have been situations in which the old replication system would cause a number of problems, while Qlik painlessly restored data exchange after eliminating the causes of the failure, "Mr. Naumov added.

Companies have more data than ever. Many of them experience difficulties in integration of streams from a large number of external and internal sources, - otmetilaleksy Artemenko, the regional director of Qlik in Russia and the CIS. - Qlik allows to achieve seamless integration and consolidation of data, and we are pleased to announce this first experience of implementing the project in the CIS market. We are confident that the Eurasian Bank will be able to take advantage of the advantages of data availability and improved integration processes.
