2021: System Announcement

On December 7, 2021, the Swedish company Amra Medical announced the launch of the Amra Mass Scan system, designed to assess the state of muscles through magnetic resonance imaging.

Reports created with Amra Mass Scan contain muscle assessment and accurate body composition measurements with contextual data based on the company's reference database, as well as anatomical and color-coded segmented images.

Amra Mass Scan will greatly benefit patients by allowing doctors to objectively and accurately assess muscle quality and take measures to improve patient outcomes. This is the first commercially available proposal using fat and muscle biomarkers to evaluate patients for sarcopenia, simply adding minutes to an already prescribed MRI. The muscle scoring scale is simple to use and understand and it establishes a common ground among physicians about sarcopenia, said Amra Medical CEO Eric Converse.

Doctors from the beginning of December 2021 will be able to accurately evaluate the muscles before and after organ transplantation to get an idea of the health status of patients. For example, doctors can more accurately predict, diagnose and control sarcopenia, or can monitor a patient's muscle condition, detecting small and large changes in muscle and obesity.[1]
