Rostelecom and Russian Railways will cooperate in the fields of cybersecurity and technology communications networks

2021: Agreement on Cooperation in the Areas of IB, Development of Communication Networks

JSC Russian Railways (RR) and PJSC Rostelecom concluded the four-year cooperation agreement in spheres of information security, development of communication networks and increase in energy efficiency of railway holding. The document was signed by the general director - chairman of the board of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and the president of Rostelecom Mikhail Oseevsky. This was reported on December 10, 2021 at Rostelecom.

The digital transformation of the transport industry requires effective protection against internal and external threats to information security. Russian railways are implementing a plan to import software products and equipment at the expense of advanced Russian developments, including in the areas of protecting confidential data, countering threats to information security and attacks on IT infrastructure.

"Digitalization of technological and business processes is one of the main drivers of railway development. The management of our large-scale information infrastructure certainly takes into account various risks. We attract the best domestic solutions to improve control systems and respond to possible threats, "said Oleg Belozerov, Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways.

The key areas of cooperation of companies in the field of information security will be improving systems for monitoring and controlling information transmission channels, controlling user access to Russian Railways information and telecommunications systems and reducing the cost of using such technologies, and developing practical skills to respond to the latest computer attacks.

"Digital transformation is a process necessary for the development of the economy, but it is inevitably accompanied by an increase in cybersecurity risks. Therefore, digitalization must be approached comprehensively, ensuring project protection when implementing digital technologies. Protection against cyber threats is one of the most important priorities of our company, and we pay great attention to the development and implementation of relevant technologies and services, "said Rostelecom President Mikhail Oseevsky.

The parties also agreed to consider cooperation in the development and use of fourth-generation broadband services (standard) LTE in the 450 MHz frequency range. The use of services of this standard will increase the efficiency of Russian Railways technological processes, using technologies Internet of Things with standard support. NB-IoT

As part of the cooperation, Russian Railways will consider Rostelecom's decisions in the field of intellectual accounting for resource consumption. In accordance with the principles of sustainable development, the company is actively introducing resource-saving technologies in railway transport, including systems for automated accounting of electricity and fuel and energy resources (thermal energy, water supply, etc.).
