2021: MRI Scanner Announcement
In early December 2021, Canon Medical introduced its Vantage Fortian magnetic resonance imaging system. A distinctive feature of the novelty was the high scanning speed, which can be a record.
The 1.5T open hole scanner features workflow optimization and image enhancements, as well as accelerated scanning technology that helps reduce the time it takes to perform magnetic resonance studies. The device is designed to speed up the patient scanning process so that healthcare facilities can better cope with growing patient volumes and increasingly complex patient and health system needs with limited resources.
Vantage Fortian uses the Advanced Smart Processor Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) technology to perform deep learning reconstruction that removes noise and restores signal-to-noise to improve image quality. The device helps doctors visualize fine anatomical details. The system also automates many scanning procedures and confirms setup steps to save time and reduce errors in general.
| Everyone recognizes that magnetic resonance scanning usually takes longer and requires a more complex workflow than other methods. Therefore, our engineers focused on finding solutions that can really meet new requirements and provide magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facilities. One of the most valuable contributions we can make to today's challenging healthcare environment is to offer new tools, such as Vantage Fortian, that improve workflow and performance, said Akira Adachi, CEO of the MRI systems division, Canon Medical. |
Vantage Fortian reduces scanning time with compressed sensing technology, which allows the system to obtain high-quality images with less information. The device allows accelerating the clinic throughput, and calculations based on the obtained data are carried out on a MR scanner without the need for their export or external processing. Parallel imaging also helps since the receiving coils support spatial localization of the MP signal and reduce the number of phase coding steps required to obtain an image.
New Vantage Fortian features will be added to the previous 1.5T systems released by Canon. The company also plans to add them to its 3T MR scanners after obtaining regulatory approval. The Vantage Fortian system is under approval and has not yet gone on sale in the United States as of December 2021.[1]
