2021: Creation of armor
December 13, 2021 it became known about the creation in Russia of an armored helmet with an integrated gas mask. This is the development of the Military Academy of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection named after Marshal of the Soviet Union S.K. Tymoshenko. According to the developers, their product is unique.
The novelty combines a breathing mask and a helmet, to protect the respiratory and head from chemicals. The ballistic helmet protects the head of a person from mechanical effects, and the gas mask filters the incoming external air from toxic chemicals, radioactive dust and biological substances.
Helmet consists of body, protective glass, filters and exhalation valve, has negotiating device and device for safe reception of liquid. There are three types of filter elements on it, they can be changed depending on the type of chemical weapons used by opponents. They are located in the area of the ear-temple and have the form of a flat disk divided into segments filled with sorbent.
The filtration system protects military personnel from radioactive dust, industrial toxic chemicals, biological and toxic substances. The helmet can be brought into combat position within 3-4 seconds, which reduces the likelihood of defeat of troops by up to 50 times compared to existing protective equipment.
By December 2021, the PMK-3 gas mask was used to protect against toxic substances, biological aerosols, radioactive dust, potent poisonous substances, light radiation from nuclear explosions, the effects of viscous fire mixtures and open flame in the Russian military. It is equipped with a filter-absorber box with anti-erosol and coal absorption filters, which are not supposed to be changed depending on the change in damaging factors. In addition, PMK-3 does not completely cover the head, leaving it vulnerable to some irritants.[1]
