2021: Conversion of the design institute to VDI technology

The Aircraft group completed a project to transfer the Design Institute to VDI technology (virtual workplaces). Powerful stationary computers replace employees with virtual PCs hosted on company servers. This became known on December 15, 2021.

VDI technology allows Airplane to attract a specialist no matter where in the world he is, and he, becoming an employee, quickly gets access to all IT services of the company. In 2021 alone, the company hired more than 150 employees working outside the Moscow agglomeration: residents of more than 40 regions of Russia, as well as other countries, such as Belarus, Spain, Kazakhstan. This expands the opportunities for the developer to choose the most competent specialists in a variety of fields - from IT to architects and analysts.

In order to realize this opportunity, in "Aircraft" and implemented virtual workplaces. As of December 2021, 350 jobs have already been transferred to VDI technology, the service is constantly scaling and by the end of 2021 their number will exceed 450, and in 2022 it is already 800. Scaling throughout the company is planned to begin in 2022 in the spring. First of all, employees in remote mode, as well as new employees of the company, will be transferred to VDI.

The individual workplace infrastructure not only reduces the company's personal computer costs, but also improves application speed, data efficiency, and speed up the workplace configuration process. To do this, a virtual machine with an isolated environment is created on the company server, and the user is granted remote access to it. You can install your own individual applications on this machine. Such a workstation completely repeats the individual computer of the user. This solves problems with the speed of communication channels and security, since all data and applications are stored on the company server. Now it is not necessary to configure the software on its workplace locally, only to give the employee access. It can even work from a smartphone or tablet, which in our time can be very relevant.
