2021: Launch of face payment service in Sapsan train bistro cars

On December 17, 2021, Visa and Russian Railways announced the launch of a face payment service in bistro cars of high-speed Sapsan trains running between St. Petersburg, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. The service operates in test mode and will be launched in full by the end of the year.

To connect to the service, the passenger of the Sapsan train needs to install application OVISION on (smartphone versions are available for and) iOS Android and go through a simple check-in procedure. To do this, the buyer enters a number phone and saves faces by biometric data taking several photos. To make a purchase, you need to save your own and card - payment system emitent in the application bank. When a person pays on a Visa card, customers are given a 20% discount on the order.

Sapsan train bistro cars are equipped with special terminals, at which it is enough for the passenger to pay for the order to look at the installed one. camera In less than a second, the system takes several stages - on behalf of the identifications buyer until his verification for "authenticity" and making a decision on payment. Algorithm identifications OVISION analyzes about 100 million unique parameters and is tested for the volume bases of biometric registrations, amounting to more than 1 million persons as of December 2021, which ensures the correct operation of the service. Every day, 100 thousand people use OVISION technology.

The service is implemented on the basis of the OPAY solution - facial recognition technology from OVISION.

The possibility of payment using biometrics is becoming more popular among consumers and in demand from trade and service enterprises.
