On December 20, 2021, the RCS reported that to control the construction of railway infrastructure at the facilities of the Eastern training ground, Terra Tech JSC (a subsidiary of the Russian Space Systems holding, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) creates monitoring technology using remote sensing of the Earth (DHS) and unmanned aircraft systems. The development is carried out jointly with JSC "Research and Design Institute of Informatization, Automation and Communication in Railway Transport" (NIIAS, a subsidiary of Russian Railways) by order of Russian Railways.

Information monitoring technology provides processing of surveying of construction objects on the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian highways from DZZ spacecraft and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as their verification for compliance with indicators on the terms and volumes of construction work. The implementation of the project will allow to receive objective information on the timing, volumes, activity of construction on each site and on the project as a whole in the "one window" mode. In 2021, construction work was carried out at more than 200 facilities throughout the Eastern landfill.

Combining satellite and drone data into a single information product increases detail and creates additional automated control capabilities. A whole block of various functional capabilities has been developed that allow you to determine the construction stage, record activity on a particular part of the facility by special indicators, and determine the presence and type of construction equipment and materials.

Based on stereo photography from remote sensing satellites and unmanned aircraft systems, it is possible to calculate the amount of earthworks carried out, for example, the volume of embankment and excavation during the construction of new railway tracks. Algorithms are being developed that will allow you to determine the stage of laying the rail frame, switches and much more.

Users get important for optimizing logistics information about the quarries of useful ones minerals located next to the objects under construction. The solution provides for the function of tracking adverse events near the infrastructure under construction - fires and floods.

Until 2024 inclusive, Russian Railways plans to build 1.3 thousand additional main tracks at the facilities of the Eastern landfill, build 28 and reconstruct 5 tracks, and reconstruct 24 stations. Also it is planned to execute construction of a round of the site of Shkotovo - Smolyaninovo, to electrify Volochayevk's site - Komsomolsk-Sortirovochnyj - Vanino and to execute strengthening of devices of traction power supply on sites of the Trans-Siberian Railway and BAM.
