In mid-December 2021, Nanolek began production of a vaccine for the COVID-19 COViVAK coronavirus, developed by the Chumakov Center. Investments in this project amounted to 40 million rubles.
It is planned to produce about 250 thousand doses of KoviVaka at the Nanolek plant in the Kirov region by the end of 2021. At the same time, the company declares its readiness to ensure the production of 10 million doses per year.
"Thus, if additional bottling capacity is needed in the Russian Federation or it becomes possible to produce this vaccine for export, the company is already ready to quickly" substitute the shoulder, "the company said.
Before Nanolek, KoviVak was produced only by the developer himself - the Federal Scientific Center for Research and Development of Immunobiological Drugs named after M.P . Chumakov RAS. In August - September 2021, the center began the modernization of the production of substance and temporarily suspended the release of the drug. Throughout the year, the center managed to produce only 6 million doses, Kommersant was told in the center on December 17, 2021.
President of Nanolek Vladimir Khristenko emphasized that the production of KoviVaka is a social project and the enterprise will become the backbone-forming company of the city of scientists of Biopolis. And the company is ready to develop and increase vaccine production, especially since the number of people wishing to reinvent is growing.
In September 2021, Vladimir Khristenko said that when transferring the production technology of KoviVaka, the pharmaceutical company faced difficulties related to the supply of equipment. According to him, due to the scaling of production of different companies around the world , queues arose for certain parts of equipment or auxiliary and consumable materials, which lasted for a year and a half.[1]
