2021: Battery Release
NPO Impulse, which is part of Roselectronics, has developed lithium-ion batteries that can be used in devices operated at temperatures from -50 to + 50 ° C. This was announced on December 21, 2021 by the press service of Rostec (Roselektronika is part of this state corporation).
According to the developers, the new batteries have received a unique electrochemical formulation, which just ensures the operation of the equipment in extreme temperature conditions. The chemical current source weighing about 150 grams has a service life of up to 2700 or more charge-discharge cycles depending on operating conditions.
It is argued that unlike standard batteries of import production, the new batteries of NPO Impulse hold the charge much longer at low temperatures, which allows them to be used in the Far North and the Arctic. Batteries can also be manufactured in a radiation-resistant version for operation in space.
Batteries can be used as power sources in telecommunications equipment, robotics, medicine, military equipment, drones, on-board ship and aircraft equipment. In addition, batteries can be mass-produced with the quality category "OTC" required for general industrial equipment. At the request of customers, the quality category can be upgraded to "VP" - for military products.
Based on the created low-temperature batteries, it is possible to manufacture batteries with various characteristics according to nominal voltage, capacity and size depending on the needs of the customer, said Denis Zvonov, Deputy General Director of NPO Impulse.
By the end of December 2021, prototypes of new batteries passed preliminary tests, and the launch of mass production of products is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.[1]
