Cyber Project Company on December 23, 2021 announced the implementation of the Akronis Data Protection solution in the Federal Tax Service of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory.

The Office of the Federal Tax Service for the Krasnodar Territory has 28 tax inspections, which serve more than 93 thousand legal entities and individual entrepreneurs.

The Federal Tax Service for the Krasnodar Territory manages an extensive information infrastructure. It consists of about 500 workstations and 50 servers for various purposes. They ensure the operation of specialized information systems used in the tax department, as well as applications using which the organization is managed and employees work daily.

Task

"The Federal Tax Service does not belong to entities of critical information infrastructure, but this does not diminish the importance and role of data operated by our management. This is the current office work, data related to tax accounting, communications with taxpayers and other executive bodies of the regional and federal level. A significant part of the data is confidential, it contains personal data and information related to tax secrecy. Ensuring their safety and accessibility is one of our key tasks, " said the head of the information security department of the Federal Tax Service for the Krasnodar Territory Artem Trubitsin

Previously, data was backed up and restored in Operating System Management. However, they did not meet the requirements of the customer either with speed, reliability, or their manageability.

In order to ensure regular data copying and recovery in case of incidents, it was decided to deploy an integrated backup system to the FNS. The Office formulated a list of requirements to which it was to meet: the ability to back up data on schedule and on request, should the previous session be missed; Support for private key protection of backups minimum of improvements during solution implementation; simple centralized management and easy configuration of the management server.

Project Progress

As the basis for creating a data backup system in the Federal Tax Service in the Krasnodar Territory, several solutions were considered, including from various international manufacturers. After careful selection of several candidates, the Office's specialists referred to Acronis Data Protection. The implementation of the data backup and recovery system in the Federal Tax Service of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory was carried out within two working days. One information security specialist deployed the solution. He installed software, organized backup storage on a dedicated server, and configured data copy and restore policies.

Results

The data protection system of the Federal Tax Service of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory backs up and restores information in the central management apparatus and 28 tax inspectorates subordinate to it. A dedicated server is dedicated to storing copies in the Management infrastructure. System backups exceed 65 TB.
