History
2025: Launch of Russia's first skin packaging plant for ₽1,7 billion, which extends the shelf life of meat and fish
Desnogorsk Polymer Plant LLC put into operation the first mass production of barrier skin packaging in Russia, which ensures hermetic protection of products and extension of their shelf life. The implementation of the investment project required ₽1,7 billion financing with the support of VTB Bank. The launch of production facilities took place in the Smolensk region in July 2025.
According to Interfax, the project was carried out within the framework of the credit limit set by VTB Bank. The terms of lending and the interest rate under the agreement were not disclosed. The plant's production facilities are designed to produce up to 1000 tons of specialized packaging products per year.
General Director of the plant Alexander Preferansov noted the active development of skin packaging technology, which occupies only 5% of the global film materials market. He stressed that the Russian market for such packaging is completely dependent on imports, which creates significant potential for the development of domestic production and the implementation of the import substitution program.
