Biography

2021: Appointment as CEO of Veon Ventures

At the end of December 2021, the telecommunications company Veon announced the appointment of Mohammad Khayril Abdullah as CEO of its venture capital company Veon Ventures.

Before joining Veon Ventures, Mohammad Khayril Abdullah worked for Axiata Group, the leading mobile operator in Southeast Asia. As CEO of Axiata Digital Services, he built and managed a successful digital business in the fields of data, artificial intelligence, financial technologies and system integration, while providing attractive venture capital opportunities and appropriate external financing. Before joining Axiata in 2012 as director of marketing and operations, Mohammad Khayril Abdullah worked for 15 years at Bain & Company, where he became the managing partner of the company's telecommunications practice in Southeast Asia.

Veon CEO Kaan Tercioglu added that venture capital enterprises are one of the three main vectors of growth and value creation for the company that were presented at Investor Day.

Mohammad Khayril Abdullah will take up a new position on March 1, 2022. He will be based in Amsterdam with the leadership of the Veon group.^[1]
