2022: Announcement of a glucometer connected to Android smartphones
On January 12, 2022, Roche announced the entry of Cobas Pulse glucometer into the market. In particular, the novelty for controlling diabetes mellitus goes on sale in European countries.
As the manufacturer points out, Cobas Pulse can be used in a variety of healthcare settings in need of timely and informed clinical solutions. The platform joins Roche's portfolio of connected healthcare solutions. The company claims that this decision can simplify work processes for employed nurses and doctors and improve their ability to provide care to patients.
A portable device for controlling blood glucose levels can be connected to Android smartphones through mobile applications. They are used to support decision-making and display vital indicators and digital biomarkers. Cobas Pulse combines the form factor of a high-performance blood glucose meter with ease of use and advanced digital capabilities comparable to a smartphone, the press release said.
The developed module from Roche in a set of software solutions called Cobas Infinity Edge, includes three modules: unite, scribe and smart. When used together, this solution makes it easier for laboratories and hospitals to manage patient testing devices that measure clinical health parameters anytime and anywhere.
Health workers working on the frontlines are under increasing pressure, requiring not only accurate diagnosis of patients, but also appropriate decisions on all aspects of disease management and patient care. We strive to equip them with highly effective innovations that really change their working lives. We are excited to introduce a truly new solution that enables them to obtain actionable clinical data and a virtually limitless range of digital patient care opportunities, said Roche CEO Thomas Schinecker[1] |
