2022: Leica M11

On January 13, 2022, Leica Camera AG announced that it had re-released the Leica M11 camera.

The presented model combines the features of classic rangefinder cameras  and the capabilities of current technologies, making the workflow quite flexible. Among the distinctive features of the camera: a matrix with Triple Resolution variable resolution technology, an extended ISO sensitivity range, double memory, increased battery performance, as well as an intuitive menu.

The Leica M11 is equipped with a full-frame CMOS backlight matrix with Triple Resolution variable resolution technology. Depending on  the task, DNG and JPEG files can be created in 60, 36, or 18 megapixel resolution. The resolution of 60 MP allows you to take pictures  with detailed detail and high image quality when the optical potential of the current APO lenses of the Leica M. system is fully used. When shooting  with reduced resolution, the camera performance increases, the duration of continuous shooting increases and the weight of saved files decreases.

A specially designed filter that blocks IC and UV radiation consists of  two interconnected ultra-thin glasses. With an updated array of color filters, the camera ensures a more natural color rendering.

The recognizable canonical design of the Leica M11 was optimized to improve ergonomics. The control buttons frame the touch screen  with a resolution of 2.3 MPs. The structure of the M11 menu is similar to that used  in the Leica SL2 and Q2 models - a single interface that has proven itself on  Leica full-frame cameras greatly simplifies the photographer's work.

The upper panel of version M11 silver chrome is made of brass, the weight of the chamber is 640 grams. The version in black with an upper panel  of aluminum with a fairly strong coating is lighter by 100 grams.

The deliberate abandonment of the previously traditional bottom panel provided direct access to the battery, USB-C port and SD card. In addition to the SD card slot, the Leica M11 is equipped with 64 GB internal memory. Thus, M11 became the first M-family camera that allows you to save images on two media at the same time. A battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh saves, according to the company, up to 64% of energy. Together with improved camera energy efficiency, this increases the shooting time on one battery charge. The universal USB-C port recharges with most available USB-C chargers.

Enhanced connectivity for the Leica M11 will be available with the release of the next version software in the second half of 2022. Additional options optimize the mobile workflow and expand the functionality of the Leica FOTOS application with the ability to embed data about, geolocation access snapshots by, and Bluetooth increase data transfer speed. Leica M11 has the status of a certified accessory - Apple Made for and. iPhone iPad Users will be able to take advantage of the privileges of this status thanks to the special Leica FOTOS wire included in the kit.

The Leica M model is accompanied by the release of original accessories. An external Visoflex  2   3.7 MP electronic viewfinder helps you control your Live View image accurately enough. The metal body of Visoflex 2 complements the design of the M11. Frame sighting  and precise focusing through Leica lenses are supported using Visoflex 2 features such as an increased range of diopter adjustment (from - 4 to + 3)  and the ability to tilt the viewfinder by 90 °. To improve ergonomics, photographers will be able to supplement their M11 with a specially designed handle that does not cover  access to the battery and SD card. It is equipped with a Tripod Mount, which allows you to connect the Leica M11 to standard Arca-Swiss tripod heads without additional equipment.
