2024: Data breach of hundreds of thousands of users

On October 11, 2024, it became known that cybercriminals had penetrated the IT infrastructure of the Maksavit Internet pharmacy. There was a leak of personal data of hundreds of thousands of users.

According to the Telegram channel "Information Leaks," on one of the shadow forums on the Internet, a dump of the Maksavita customer base (maksavit.ru) has been posted for free access. In the hands of the attackers were such information as customer names, phone numbers (more than 1 million unique combinations), email addresses (about 400 thousand unique e-mails), contents of orders, dates of birth, hashed passwords.

The stolen information dates back to September 2, 2024. Knowing the names of Maksavit's customers, their phone numbers and other personal details, cybercriminals can put victims to sleep. And this significantly increases the chances of success of a fraudulent campaign. The Internet pharmacy itself, as of mid-October 2024, does not comment on the situation in any way.

By October 2024, the Maksavita network unites 1,074 pharmacies under the Maksavit and 36.7 brands in more than 100 cities in 36 regions of Russia. The 36.7 pharmacy chain was created in 1997, and the first pharmacy of the Maksavit brand opened in 2010. The company's website says that it opens pharmacies only in central points of cities, near public transport stops and metro stations.^[1]
