2022 Agreement on the Development and Use of GIS

In order to improve flight safety in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, the Aerochimflot Alliance and GLONASS JSC agreed to work together to develop and use Russian geographic information systems in the field of aviation operations.

On January 24, 2022, the general director of GLONASS JSC Igor Milashevsky and the head of the Aerochimflot alliance, Kim Galiullin, signed a cooperation agreement. The implementation of the agreement provides for the development of GLONASS services for transport and communication and other types of aviation operations.

By signing the agreement, we confirm the importance of a real project with an alliance of aviation operations, which is already underway. We will consistently implement the already planned measures to create information systems, end-to-end solutions and equipment. I am confident in the effectiveness of our joint activities,
said the general director of GLONASS JSC Igor Milashevsky.

In 2022-2024 the Aerochimflot Alliance is ready to allocate up to 100 An-2, An-3 aircraft with professional crews to organize aviation communication between remote settlements and regional (municipal) centers of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. All aircraft will be equipped with GLONASS trackers, which will increase safety and ensure "transparency" of air transportation. In the future, as unmanned aircraft systems develop, drones are also planned for use.

When our planes fly hundreds of kilometers from the base, we know where they are anytime. This allows not only to increase efficiency, but also to come to the rescue of the crew in time if necessary. It is the relevant services that have to play a crucial role in this matter,
noted the head of the Aerochimflot alliance Kim Galiullin.

The joint pilot project of the Aerochimflot Alliance and GLONASS JSC was launched back in October 2020, when 5 aircraft of one of the operators performing logging operations in Siberia were equipped with GLONASS trackers in test mode. Aviators praised the capabilities of the system, noting the importance of innovative services when working in remote regions of the country.

The development of precision navigation systems for light aircraft becomes especially relevant when flying in the low-oriented area of the Far North and is of the utmost importance in fulfilling the tasks set by the country's leadership for the development of small aviation and the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
