Big Data Business Analysis Platform Benefits: Expert Vision

23.11.21, 15:34, Msk

Every day, approximately 2.5 quintillions of information are generated in the world (10,000,000 Blu-Ray disks, which will have a mass like 4 Eiffel Towers). And with the growth of mobile devices, the expansion of the bandwidth of wired and wireless networks, the advent of new technologies in the market, these volumes are growing rapidly. Along with them, the number of all kinds of Big Data management and analysis systems is growing. We invited Pavel Pitkevich, an expert in big data analysis and a developer of innovative IT solutions. He will answer all the important questions asked today by company executives and technical directors planning to introduce Big Data analysis systems into their business.

Paul, what are Big Data systems?

In simple words, Big Data is a large amount of data that is collected and stored for further use. Systems that analyze this data are hardware and software solutions that make it easier to work with Big Data. For example, if we talk about IT projects, then, first of all, obvious, most important and understandable data are analyzed. In online trading, they usually first look at average checks, sales volumes, inventory; speed, altitude, fuel consumption are analyzed in the field of air transportation. Given the characteristics of each area of activity, I decided to create a universal innovative platform for big data analysis, which uses data from both classical sources and from social networks, search engines and other "non-traditional" sources. By collecting and analyzing the necessary data, you can quickly make edits to the system in order to improve certain performance of a particular company, increase profitability and dividends for shareholders, etc. These improvements have an effect literally immediately. It is not in vain that this approach is called "collecting fruits from the lower branches."

With the development of the company's IT infrastructure, the Big Data analysis system allows you to work with absolutely all the narrow visible places within the project. That is, such systems are primarily needed by those areas that need a deep analysis of business processes.

What do you think the main tasks solve these systems?

Based on my extensive experience, I can identify 4 key tasks that solve Big Data analysis platforms. One of the first and key tasks is to analyze the current state of affairs within the company. The Big Data analysis platform will help you understand which products the company likes most, how well the equipment works at the plant, and whether there are problems with deliveries. All this will be shown by the system to the user in the form of visual graphs, charts, reports.

The second key task is forecasting. Information about the past allows you to make forecasts for the future. For example, with the help of the Big Data analysis platform, you can predict the volume of sales, predict the breakdown of machines in the production plant and much more. The more initial data, the more accurate the forecasts will be.

As a third task, I would highlight building models. Based on Big Data, you can form a digital model, for example, a store, an oil well, equipment and other things. With this model you can conduct various experiments - which is extremely profitable before launching a real project.

The last, but no less important task is to automate routine processes. The Big Data analysis system produces reports that help programmers create software to automate certain processes: communicating with customers, sorting cash receipts.

Based on your experience, can you highlight the main industries that actively use Big Data analysis platforms?

As I said before, Big Data analysis systems are used in a wide variety of industries. But from my practice, more demand is observed in the following industries.

Real Estate Market The use of big data improves real estate sales. For example, using analytical tools created for realtors helps them analyze the audience and highlight target customers.

Entertainment, Content Let's take the example of an online theater. The Big Data analysis platform helps the user find a film that will definitely interest him. But you need to look deeper - Big Data also helps you understand what films to make for moviegoers.

Agricultural industry Sensors, video cameras, sensors and other equipment help collect information about yields, weather, soil condition, air humidity, and livestock growth. Big Data analysis helps optimize farmers' performance.

Advertising and Online Trading Big Data analysis systems investigate the behavior of visitors to an online store, compare the received information with existing information and help predict which product a particular person can pay attention to. As a result, ads can be used more efficiently.

Safety Any online business needs to fight threats in such a way that it is as invisible to the user as possible. The Big Data and machine learning analysis system allows you to model the "good behavior" of site visitors. As a result, you can quickly detect potentially dangerous, suspicious users and take the necessary measures.

Medicine Big Data analysis platforms have long been working in medicine - they collect, structure, allow sharing and provide doctors from different parts of the world with access to research, methods of diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention.

Public administration The Big Data analysis system helps the government make important decisions in various sectors (health, economy, employment, crime control, security, emergency response).

Internet of Things Big Data and IoT are closely related. Devices connected to the Internet of Things collect huge amounts of information, and the Big Data analysis system allows you to provide the end user of these devices with exactly what they need.

Is it possible to say that Opensource systems perform better than commercial ones for dedicated industries?

I have carefully studied the market and I can note that today there is a merger of Open Source and commercial software. After all, 80% of open code is written by full-time programmers of commercial companies, and not by single coders or collectives.

This trend is especially noticeable in advanced analytics, where Open Source integrates with commercial solutions at the stage of designing the architecture of the final solution. Moreover, such integration helps to create a response to market needs.

In what cases do you think companies should implement Big Data analysis systems?

From my practice, companies should implement Big Data analysis when they need to: · Optimize current processes · Increase plant productivity · improve the quality of products; · nullify security risks; · predict trends in its market industry; · better understand what consumers want; · more precisely, "get into" your CA (target audience); · Reduce downtime risks.

To summarize the above, I would recommend implementing the Big Data analysis platform when the business wants to get the most out of its existence, and the consumer wants to provide the maximum convenience and quality of the product.

Using Big Data analysis systems, each company can create intelligent solutions, unique products and services that solve problems of a completely new level.
