2022: Dolby Laboratories bought Millicast

In early February 2022, Dolby Laboratories acquired Millicast. The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

According to Dolby, with Millicast, developers can broadcast interactive events they create with Dolby.io, such as conferences and concerts, to an audience of more than 60,000 people with delays of less than 500 ms.

A team of Millicast engineers that has developed standards such as WHIP will strengthen the engineering experience of WebRTC Dolby.io. According to the company, WHIP provides compatibility with WebRTC.
