In 1989 he entered the technological faculty of the Dagestan Polytechnic Institute (later - DSTU), which he graduated in 1994.

1997

Nurmagomed Surakatov began working at the Dagestan State Technical University in 1997.

2007-2020

In 2007, he became dean of the faculty of state and municipal administration at DSTU, and in 2010 - vice-rector for economics.

In 2017, he became vice-rector for academic work. On November 8, 2019, by a majority of votes of the scientific council, he was elected rector of DSTU. In March 2020, the Ministry of Education and Science appointed Nurmagomed Surakatov to the post of rector of the university for five years.

2022: Arrest in fraud case

February 9, 2022 it became known about the arrest of the rector of the Dagestan State Technical University (DSTU) Nurmagomed Surakatov. He is accused of fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159) and official forgery (part 2 of article 292 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to TASS, citing the head of the press service of the Supreme Court of Dagestan, Zarema Mamaev, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala detained Surakatov for one month - until March 4, 2022.

The decision can be appealed on appeal to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan within three days from the day of its proclamation, the court website said in a statement.

According to Mamaeva, the rector of DSTU in 2015-2018. as part of an organized criminal group, which included university officials, stole funds allocated from the federal budget for scholarships to students, bonuses and salaries for employees, totaling more than 90 million rubles.

Nurmagomed Surakatov is the author of more than 180 scientific papers, including 7 monographs, 32 educational and methodological works, takes an active part in international and all-Russian scientific and practical conferences and competitions of scientific papers. In ^[1]
