Court with the Russian telecom supplier Informtechnika and Promsvyaz

The Arbitration Court of the city Moscow accepted for production a statement of claim from the Russian telecom equipment supplier Informtechnika and Promsvyaz (part of the Informtechnika Group of Companies) to the Kazakhstani Bank RBC (Bank RBK), filed in May 2025, on recognition and enforcement of the decision of a foreign court. Investment in ABR Holding

In March 2025, Bank RBK announced a strategic partnership with the leading Kazakh holding ABR to jointly implement innovative projects at the intersection of food tech and fintech solutions. This project has become "one of the stages of the bank as part of the implementation of a strategy to build its own digital lifestyle ecosystem, which carries value to clients of the financial institution in various spheres of their lives." The decision on investments was made based on an assessment of the holding's value at $120 million, according to a press release from the bank.

2024: Increased control over Russian-related operations

In August 2024, Kazakhstan Bank RBK notified customers that in order to minimize possible sanctions risks when crediting incoming and outgoing payments/transfers and accepting new contracts related to Russia and Belarus, as well as sanctioned goods or services, Bank RBK has the right to suspend the operation until the full requested information is received and all documents are checked. This is stated in a press release from the organization.

2023: Launch of Request to pay technology with Visa

In February 2023, Bank RBK launched Request to Pay technology from Visa. The bank claims that this is the first launch of the technology based on the Visa Direct platform not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the world.

At the time of launch, bank customers can use such services as "Transfer Request" and "Account Section." The user can request the amount or split the account in the bank's mobile application - My RBK. Another new service was the possibility of dividing the account, which may be in demand among bank customers when collective trips to cafes, restaurants or, for example, when purchasing a group gift. At the same time, persons receiving requests for transfer or section of the check can be customers not only of Bank RBK, but also of other banks.

2019: How did Bank RBK's rescue end?

In June 2019, the head of the bank, Natalya Akentieva, in an interview with Inbusiness.kz, spoke about the crisis of the organization and the results of its financial support. According to her, the Bank RBK support program was probably special, since it took place in several stages. First, the shareholder capitalized the bank with "real" money in the amount of 160 billion tenge. Second, the financial institution attracted a subordinated loan from the National Bank in the amount of 243.7 billion tenge.
