2022: Technical and material support

On February 14, 2022, Xiaomi announced that it had agreed with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to cooperate in a project aimed at preserving the snow leopard population in Russia. The partnership involves technical and material support for activities related to monitoring the abundance of this rare species and countering poaching.

To take into account the number of snow leopards and fix environmental violations, WWF and the Russian IT company developed a special mobile application NEXT GIS Collector. Members of expeditions and raids can now record information with one touch of the screen, instead of using bulky paper forms, as before. Information from each smartphone is automatically uploaded to the shared server as soon as the phone connects to the Internet. This saves time for processing and analyzing data. As part of the technical support program, Xiaomi provided colleagues from WWF with a batch of devices, including Redmi Note 10S smartphones and Redmi Power Bank 20,000 portable batteries.

The device selection was not accidental, since the Redmi Note 10S fully meets the requests voiced by specialists. The smartphone has a capacious 5000 mAh battery, a moisture-proof case, an AMOLED display with high definition and economical energy consumption, as well as a 64-megapixel camera. In the event that the smartphone's energy runs out, Redmi Power Bank 20,000 will come to the rescue, which will provide it with several more full charges.

The second component of the project is material assistance related to the financing of the WWF initiative to counter poaching in the Altai-Sayan ecoregion. The funds provided will carry out anti-poaching raids, install additional photo traps in places where illegal hunters may appear, hold meetings with the population, preventive conversations, and so on.
