2022: Start of Production Data Management System Tests

Field tests of the production data management system started at the Norilsk Nickel division in Transbaikalia. This was announced on February 15, 2022 by Krok.

The joint project of Bystrinsky GOK "Norilsk Nickel" and IT-company CRIC solves these tasks by implementing a monitoring system and creating a single catalog of technological data.

The most important production tasks of mining enterprises are efficient operation of equipment and prompt response to any technological deviations. The business is implementing digital services and digital twins based on predictive analytics and Big Data technology. For the most accurate result, it is critical that the readings on the basis of which forecasts are made are qualitative, reliable and exhaustive.

In 2021, a pilot project was launched at the Bystrinsky GOK, the purpose of which was to introduce a system for operational monitoring of the quality of technological data and a single catalog of data at the enterprise. Quality control allows you to identify potential problems in a set of indicators and parameters in advance, and a centralized catalog provides a single source of unified information.

The CRIC IT team, together with the Digital and Data Center team, worked out the main scenarios for collecting technology data and potential problems. The pilot was the ore crushing and grinding site. At the redistribution, a system has been implemented that allows you to track hundreds of indicators in a mode close to real time. The technology helps to proactively detect incorrect measuring equipment and increase the speed of management decisions. The estimated effect of the implementation of the technology is expressed in reducing the time to detect incorrect indicators by 30%.

During the project, a data catalog was developed, more than 40 indicators were described, metadata from the enterprise data lake was integrated. The potential impact of implementing a single data source at the enrichment plant is estimated at a more than 5-fold reduction in the labor costs of business users and analysts.
