2022: Lumix GH6 with 5.7K video support

On February 22, 2022, the company Panasonic introduced the Lumix GH6 hybrid digital system camera for professional photo and video production. According to the information company, the presented flagship will appear Russia in April 2022.

The Lumix GH6 provides ample video shooting capabilities. Thanks to the anamorphic (4:3) modes 5, 7K (5728x3024) 4:2:0 10-bit 60p/50p (17:9) and 5, 8K (5760x4320) 30p/25p/24p 4:2:0 10-bit, the Lumix GH6 provides higher resolution and data transfer speed, in addition to the high image quality, versatility and expressiveness required for all types of cinema, television and video.

In addition, GH6 offers unlimited recording time for 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p video in 4:2:2 format. This camera is suitable for small production teams and for use in environments where mobility and high quality are needed.

GH6 is the first Lumix camera to support the Apple ProRes video codec. Using the CFexpress card type B, you can record video in codecs ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422, a professional industry standard that provides high-quality images with low compression. This significantly reduces the load on the computer during post-production and allows you to perform NLE (nonlinear editing) without transcoding, optimizing the workflow.

The flagship is equipped with a 25.2-megapixel Live MOS sensor in a micro 4/3 system (Micro Four Thirds) and a twice as fast Venus Engine processor. High read speed allows you to record C4K/4K 120p video, conduct serial shooting at 75 frames per second using an electronic shutter, and also minimizes the effect of shutter rolling.

The processor provides high-speed processing of more pixels from the sensor and video with higher resolution and data transfer speed. Intelligent detail processing and high-performance 2D and 3D (for video) noise cancellation provide natural images with minimal noise, while accurate dual 3D color management provides improved color rendering.

With GH6, slow recording with sound and high resolution became possible - using 10-bit video recording C4K/4K 120p/100p HFR (with a high frame rate). In addition, the camera offers a wide range of 10-bit ALL-Intra recording modes for professional editing, allowing you to shoot video with a resolution of FHD 240p/200p HFR and FHD 240k/s VFR (variable frame rate). Also, up to 12, 5x ultra-slow video (FHD 24p/300 frames per second 10-bit) can be recorded using VFR.

The presented flagship is suitable for shooting in motion and video blogging. The camera is equipped with a Live View OLED viewfinder with a resolution of 3.68 million points, a swivel screen with wide viewing angles is suitable for professional videographers. To stabilize the image, the Lumix GH6 uses a high-performance gyroscopic sensor and a current algorithm. Double 5-axis image stabilizer Dual I.S. 2, consisting of a stabilizer in the body (Body I.S.) and a stabilizer in the lens (Lens O.I.S.) provides a correction effect of up to 7.5 steps.

The camera can be controlled from a computer or smartphone - for this you will need to install the Lumix Tether program (for the computer) or Lumix Sync (for the smartphone). The program allows you to change the camera settings, remotely shoot, and save the received images to the selected device.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules extend the ability to capture and publish photos and videos in real time, including live streaming on Youtube and Facebook. Bluetooth version 5.0 (Bluetooth Low Power Consumption (BLE)) supports continuous connection to a smartphone or tablet at minimal power consumption.

The camera is equipped with two slots for memory cards - CFexpress (CFexpress type B) and cards type SD, SDHC, SDXC; USB connector, HDMI Type A output, as well as a connector for connecting the remote control of the DU,, a connector for connecting the microphone, and a connector for synchronization.

The Lumix GH6 has a weather-proof magnesium alloy case with dust and spray protection and wind noise suppression. Optimum chamber operating temperatures range from -10 ° C to + 40 ° C at relative humidity of 10-80%.

The dimensions of the camera are approximately 138.4 x 100.3 x 99.6 mm (excluding protrusions), the body weight is 739 g (without an lens). The package includes a lithium-ion battery (7.2 V, 2200 mAh, 16 Wh), power supply from USB (power delivery).
