2022: Platform View

Brazilian experts have created a platform for automatic detection of fakes. This became known on February 24, 2022.

According to preliminary testing, the platform identifies fake news with an accuracy of 96%.

Using statistical models and machine learning techniques, the system determines whether a particular content in Brazilian, Portuguese is fake. According to preliminary testing, the platform identifies fake news with an accuracy of 96%.

Statistical methods allow you to analyze the characteristics of what is written, such as the words used and the most common word classes. These characteristics are then entered into a machine learning technology classifier that separates language patterns, vocabulary, and fake news semantics from the real ones and automatically determines whether the content is unreliable.

Models were trained using a huge database of real and false news, and they were presented with vocabulary used in more than 100 thousand articles over the past five years. The researchers also intend to use fake news related to the upcoming presidential election and the COVID-19 pandemic to further calibrate the models.

According to the creators of the system themselves, despite its obvious advantages, it can also be used by attackers. So, with its help, the authors of fake news will be able to edit their content in order to more successfully cast it as real[1].
