2022:10 years in prison for bribes
On March 15, 2022, the former chief physician of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Welfare, Andrei Pavlov, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with a stay in a maximum security colony for bribes.
In addition to the prison term, the punishment includes a fine of 7 million rubles and deprivation of the right to hold positions in the public service and in local governments for a period of seven years, TASS reports citing a statement by the prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The accused in the same case was the former chief nurse of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Clinical Center for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood, Lidia Klitenkovich. She received 7 years in prison and a fine of 6 million rubles. In addition, she is deprived of the right to hold positions in the state and municipal service for seven years.
According to the investigation, Andrei Pavlov and Lidia Klitenkovich on January 15, 2014 to December 25, 2017, they received rewards in the amount of 10 to 750 thousand rubles from representatives of medical companies in Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk for state contracts for the supply of medical equipment. In total, representatives of 10 medical companies paid doctors more than 4.3 million rubles.
They were charged with clauses "a," in "part 5, part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe) and part 1 of Art. 291.2 of the Criminal Code (petty bribery). However, the attackers are exempt from liability for petty bribery, since the statute of limitations in this case has already expired.
Andrei Pavlov on his Facebook page said that the sentence imposed on him was "disproportionate to the misconduct committed" and said that not a single evidence of his guilt was provided.
During the trial, Pavlov denied any involvement in receiving bribes. He insists on an agreement from colleagues, and Klitenkovich fully recognized the actual circumstances of the crimes and gave detailed testimony on the details of their commission.[1]
