Russian Railways told the publication that the domestic solution will be used in automated systems that provide the most important production processes of the state-owned company: the processing of transportation documents in the electronic document management system, passenger transportation management, asynchronous messaging of automated systems of Russian Railways, planning and monitoring the execution of local work and others.

Earlier, Russian Railways used foreign solutions, a company representative told the newspaper, who refused to name which companies.

According to Ivan Panchenko, Postgres Pro DBMS is an analogue of foreign solutions from Oracle and Microsoft. Both companies in early March 2022, against the backdrop of a special operation of Russia in Ukraine, announced the suspension of the sale of new solutions in the Russian Federation. Nevertheless, the conclusion of the Russian Railways contract is not directly related to the events in Ukraine: as Panchenko says, the parties began to discuss it at the end of 2021.[1]
