2022: US service launch
In April 2022, it became known about the launch in the United States of an electric bicycle rental service for Whizz couriers. It was created by the founders of the Russian My Device subscription equipment rental project Alexei Mironov, Artyom Serbovka and Ksenia Proka.
In total, $1.9 million of investments were allocated for the development of the Whizz project, which the company was able to attract in December 2021. Of these, $300 thousand was spent on the purchase of electric bicycles, another $250 thousand on starting an office, adapting operational processes and infrastructure, preparing a service, refining the IT system for the American market and marketing.
Whizz rents electric bicycles. Two tariffs are offered (by April 2022):
- for $179 per month, also includes maintenance;
- for $228 per month, the electric bicycle will have a larger range, you can additionally get a spare battery.
In the event of a breakdown, you can contact the company to repair the electric bicycle. If they do not have time to quickly fix it, the client will be given a new one.
Speaking about Whizz's business prospects, the company noted that many couriers in the United States use electric bicycles, but they cost not cheap (about $2 thousand), which complicates entry into this profession. The way out is to rent transport.[1]
