2022: Replacement of battery pack
On April 8, 2022, ENERGON announced the implementation of a project to provide critical information infrastructure for Sberbank.
In 2021, a critical voltage drop occurred in one of the Sber data centers due to an emergency shutdown of the city power network, and some of the servers ceased to work.
The generators installed at the site, which should act as a backup power source in the event of an accident in the centralized network, did not solve the problem instantly, since it takes up to 15 minutes to accept the load on the DPS. For this period, the servers were supposed to take over the batteries in the UPS. However, due to the lack of timely service, the batteries in the bank's data center at the time of the accident were completely discharged and shut down almost immediately after a network failure, not providing power autonomy for the required period. A few hours after the accident, the bank managed to restore power to the facility and the servers, redistributing capacity, but a break in the supply of electricity led to a global malfunction of the mobile bank and banking services, affecting a huge number of bank customers.
The Sber was forced to urgently replace the battery fleet (BAC), having carried out an accelerated tender procedure within several hours. As a supplier, a supplier of batteries was chosen - ENERGON, which was able to solve the problem of a large supply of fuel tanks as quickly as possible. ENERGON supplied 450 batteries of its own brand DELTA BATTERY during the working day. Having received a request from the Bank at 8 a.m., the experts picked up the required batteries and already at 17 o'clock sent the equipment to the partner's facility.
Completely excluding the negative impact of the human factor, the system allows you to monitor the status of batteries on the PC or smartphone in real time and quickly respond to the slightest deviations from the base values. If such a deviation occurs, the monitoring system immediately informs you of the problem by sending an alarm message to the duty station.
The BCS and engineering infrastructure monitoring system is a particularly effective solution when used in combination with the BCS balancing system, which automatically implements a single voltage level in battery groups due to the redistribution of energy from a more charged to a less charged battery. This set of solutions will eliminate the heterogeneity of batteries in voltage and charge level, thereby leveling the risks of premature load disconnection. It is such an integrated automated approach, combining automated monitoring and battery balancing systems, that ENERGON experts, together with a partner, integrated the South Port Data Center at the aforementioned facility. The project is in the final stage of commissioning, and in the very near future the solution will be put into operation. The solution being implemented will minimize the risks of lack of electrical power for servers.
