2022: Device announcement

In early April 2022, Alcon developed the Systane iLux MGD universal portable thermal pulsation device with imaging technology for infrared photos and high-definition video of meibomium glands. The system allows patients to verify the need for treatment, visualize the procedure and feel the results of treatment for dry eye disease after a week of using the device.

Alcon said in a press release that the Systane iLux MGD thermal pulsation system expands existing dry eye treatment offerings and allows doctors to tailor treatment to each patient's needs in just 8-12 minutes. Eye care professionals can adjust heat and compression in each imaging-friendly treatment area using the Systane iLux MGD system.
