History

In January, 2010 the tablet HP computer based on Windows 7 was provided by the chief executive officer of Microsoft Steve Ballmer. There was unofficial information that development of the device is wound up for the reason that it will not be able to compete with the pioneer of the Apple iPad market on one of keyword parameters of portable electronics, including battery life later. HP reported later that the project is alive.

Also information that for future devices Android can serve as a software platform appeared. Meanwhile, in July it became known that Hewlett-Packard was succeeded to acquire the right to use the PalmPad trademark which, most likely, the tablet on webOS will be called.

webOS is the modern mobile platform based on Linux kernel. It was developed by Palm company, the transaction on which acquisition at the beginning of July was closed behind $1.4 billion by HP. Together with other assets of the Californian smartphone manufacturer the software platform also turned into use of computer giant.

After the transaction became known in April, representatives of HP said that webOS is the most interesting asset in Palm. The head of the company Mark Hurd said earlier that they are going to use webOS on devices of different types, including tablet PCs.

In August, 2010 it became known that Hewlett-Packard is going to release in the 1st quarter 2011 the first tablet computer on the webOS platform. No additional information is unknown of the device code-named Hurricane, Engadget with reference to several "reliable sources" reports. Earlier, we will note, messages that the tablet will appear much earlier - summer of 2010 appeared.
