On April 20, 2022, Cyber Project announced that the Salek mining company had implemented the Cyber Backup backup system. The information infrastructure of Salek JSC includes 150 workstations, 9 physical and 5 virtual servers. They provide the operation of several information systems: ERP, navigation and dispatching systems, various specialized systems for automation of individual business processes, reference and training services. Some of them are combined into a single infrastructure with systems that are used in the holding company.

To protect data, Salek JSC previously used heterogeneous data backup and recovery systems. To improve reliability and efficiency, the company decided to create a system based on single supplier technologies.

"We were already familiar with Cyber Project technologies. They were involved in one of our backup systems, and its work confirmed the effectiveness of the technology. And the information received at one of the professional conferences was the reason to get acquainted with Cyber Backup from Cyber Project. We considered other solutions, but initially preferred proven technologies, " says Andrey Kichun, Head of Information Technology Department of Salek JSC

The implementation of Cyber Backup in Salek JSC began with the installation of a trial version of the solution. Within a month, the company's specialists tested it in different operating environments and checked the health of the system in interaction with various data sources. A number of experiments were conducted with system settings.

"We implemented Cyber Backup on our own: the settings are intuitive, working with software does not require special skills. Cyberproject prepared detailed instructions in Russian, in addition, we had at our disposal specialists from the supplier's technical support service, ready to come to the aid of our employees. The implementation took about three days, " explains Andrey Kichun

With the help of Cyber Backup, Salek JSC backs up user files, which make up a significant part of the company's data. In addition, the solution is protected by the configuration of the electronic server workflow and workstations operating around the clock. The company plans to backup the data of the corporate ERP system. The total volume of backups created by the Cyber Backup system is about 4 TB.

Andrei Kichun notes that thanks to the backup system, the company's IT service has confidence in the preservation of data. Among the advantages of the Cyber Project solution, in addition to simplicity and accessibility, the head of the IT department of Salek JSC refers to the speed of work.

So, for example, the company notes a noticeably reduced recovery time for lost or accidentally deleted files. Their search takes no more than five minutes. Previously, to restore individual files from a backup, customer specialists had to alternately open large archives, manually sorting data by the time they were created. Such an operation took from 15 to 20 minutes.

"With the updates of Cyber Backup and the advent of the Active Protection and Software Vulnerability Assessment functions, we make sure that the system is correctly selected. In addition to backup, additional data protection tools are added to antivirus protection, " notes Andrey Kichun

Note in "Salek JSC" and the function of "creating an image of the system." Thanks to the ability to create boot media, the solution simultaneously ensures the speed of server recovery from scratch, and guarantees data security.
