2022: Alibaba Cloud VMware Service View

On April 25, 2022 it became known that the VMware company announced full availability of the cloud services on the basis of public infrastrukturyalibaba Cloud. The product is called Alibaba Cloud VMware Service, it was developed jointly by VMware and Alibaba Group and aims to provide cloud services in China and neighboring countries.

According to VMware, Alibaba Cloud is the third in the world - IaaSprovider that provides cloudy services for most cloud service consumers in China. Alibaba Cloud VMware Service integrates provides a variety of uncompromising tools and processes, creating a hybrid infrastructure for enterprises based on dedicated - within the framework hostservers vSphere of the VMware Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) architecture.

Users receive hardware from the Alibaba Group, and VMware delivers all the content - computing, storage, network virtualization, and management. As organizations grow, they can expand their cloud resources dynamically in the cloud. You can migrate applications seamlessly, without having to change their architecture, similar to VMware Cloud on AWS.

From the point of view of paying for services, there are 2 models - as the consumption of services grows and on the basis of a fixed subscription.

VMware solutions are now fully integrated with Alibaba Cloud Console tools, infrastructure monitoring tools.

It is assumed that the Alibaba Cloud VMware Service platform will work for four basic Enterprise user scenarios:

• Migrate workloads to the cloud to create a hybrid enterprise infrastructure
• Dynamically expand datacenter resources, where you need to quickly expand the capacity for projects under development and conduct activities to test various applications in the cloud.
• Disaster recovery is a quick way to ensure that the infrastructure is operational and accessible in the event of a disaster directly from the cloud.
• Application upgrades - You can use the Kubernetes infrastructure to deploy application services for developers using native Alibaba Cloud services.^[1]
