2022: Creating a Virtual Marketplace Dummy
In Russia, they created a virtual dummy for marketplaces, adjusting to the figure of buyers, which was announced at the end of April 2022. This is the development of the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NGTU) NETI, whose employees have already begun to negotiate with online retailers on the introduction of the technology.
According to the press service of the university, a virtual dummy after entering parameters by users shows how clothes will look on a particular person. According to the authors of the project, the technology will help solve the problem of a large number of returns of online purchases due to the fact that the thing did not fit the buyer.
A person removes certain standards from himself, uploads them to the site and receives a 3D copy of himself... The clothes you like are already being tried on for this model, which is also rendered in 3D in advance, and the buyer sees that he is sitting well and that he is categorically not suitable, the NSTU NETI said in a statement. |
It is noted that to create a virtual dummy, students had to test several hypotheses, conduct surveys and interviews, and also consult with experts. According to the creators, it was the interviews that helped find the real problem of buyers and sellers.
Speaking about the problem that the developer wanted to solve when implementing their project, they noted the following:
For buyers, it sounds like this: things purchased on online sites often do not fit in size or do not sit down as it looked in the photo, and a dimensional grid cannot help, even with accurate body measurements, especially for people with a non-standard figure (and most of them). For sellers, the problem is the endless returns associated with the above difficulties, the doubts of buyers, their negative emotions.[1] |
