2022: Production start-up plan
Mass production of the Checkmate light fighter in Russia will be launched in 2027. This became known on May 18, 2022 from the words of the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It's a fifth-generation car, a light airplane. He is able to effectively withstand fifth-generation aircraft in long-range and close battles, "said Sergey Chemezov. |
According to the head of Rostec, the basis of the on-board equipment and the engine of this fighter were taken from the fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft, but somewhat modified. As of May 2022, the development of design documentation is underway. Chemezov also noted that the work is carried out at the expense of Rostec, without attracting budget money.
The presentation of the aircraft was first held in 2021. The head of the United Aircraft Industry, Yuri Slyusar, said that the first flight of the new light single-engine fighter will take place in 2023[1].
