2022: Monitor Announcement

On May 18, 2022, Taiwanese Acer developed the stereoscopic monitor SpatialLabs View, which shows a 3D picture without special glasses. Using its own hardware and software solution, the device can convert 2D content, such as games, photos and CAD projects, into a stereoscopic 3D format.

Certified by Adobe and Autodesk, the SpatialLabs solution uses a specialized optical lens, two eye cameras and artificial intelligence to make 2D work look like 3D without annoying glasses or other bulky headgear. SpatialLabs works by creating a set of images for each eye and projecting them through the optical lens where the user is looking.

Created a monitor that turns a flat image into 3D

Acer's idea is that creators, such as CAD designers, 3D animators and developers, quickly see how their work looks in 3D. A stereoscopic 3D environment does not require labor-intensive rendering, so it can become a useful and more exciting way to preview work. The SpatialLabs View monitor intended for personal use, the company claims that the supported games will be presented in three-dimensional 3D thanks to the SpatialLabs TrueGame platform.

  • Portable monitor features SpatialLabs View: 15.6-inch IPS panel, built-in battery, 323 nits brightness, 1200:1 contrast, 100% Adobe RGB color gamut, 4K 2D resolution, 282.4 pixels per inch density, 60Hz refresh rate, up to 30ms response time, accurate color transfer from Delta E<2.

  • Minimum Desktop Requirements: CPU - Intel Core i7 and above, GPU - NvidiaGeForce RTX 2080 and above.

  • Minimum requirements for portable systems: CPU - Intel Core i7 and higher, GPU - Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070ti and higher.

SpatialLabs also has the function of generating stereo 3D images from 2D photos and videos, including online videos through YouTube. According to the developers, the portable monitor supports all the main file formats, including OBJ, FBX, STEP, STL, COLLADA, IGES, glTF, 3DS, BLEND, PLY, DAE, IGS and Datasmith, which allows you to use 3D design software such as Cinema 4D,[1]
