VK May 24, 2022 announced the provision to medical to startup VeinCV of free access cloud service to platforms based on VK Cloud Solutions graphic accelerators (GPU). The startup team developed a contactless vein system visualization to simplify venous sampling blood and prepare for operational intervention in phlebology. The use of GPUs on the VK Cloud Solutions platform has increased the efficiency algorithms machine learning and accuracy of the images received, as well as accelerated the processing process. data

The VeinCV solution works like this: first, the device takes a picture of any area of ​ ​ the body, then finds the vasculature and projects the image back onto the skin. Several models of neural networks work with this data at once . One is responsible for finding veins, imaging them and creating an anatomically accurate projection on the skin, the other is responsible for aligning this "mask" with the natural movements of the patient.

Prior to partnering with VK, data collection and processing was performed directly on the device. Cloud computing improved the quality of visualization and alignment of vascular network projection, as well as accelerated the process of processing the venous pattern in terms of assessing vascular size and branching. Now it takes less than 3 seconds instead of 10-15.

Every day in Russia, more than 40 thousand people donate blood from the vein for laboratory tests. In 3% of cases, medical professionals have to do the puncture again: this leads to damage to the veins, bruises and discomfort of the patient. By using VK Cloud Solutions GPUs, the VeinCV team was able to develop and train segmentation models, improving the quality of data received from Vein CV systems by 11%.
